Trichoscopy is a non-invasive diagnostic imaging technique that magnifies the scalp at 200x to reveal hair follicle and scalp conditions invisible to the naked eye. During a trichoscopy session, a certified trichologist systematically images the scalp to measure follicle diameter, calculate miniaturization ratios, identify inflammation patterns like peripilar halos, detect early fibrosis and scarring, and assess follicle density per square centimeter. This data enables accurate identification of specific hair loss types including androgenetic alopecia, CCCA, telogen effluvium, alopecia areata, and lichen planopilaris.
