What is a Trichologist?

A trichologist is a para-medical professional that specializes in treating hair loss and scalp conditions in a holistic manner. Holistic is a term that describes the treatment of the whole person, or taking into consideration a person’s mental and medical background.

Based on a client’s health history, a trichologist is certified to give nutritional advice, recommend lifestyle changes, and suggest proper restoration treatment methods to improve the health of the hair and scalp.

What is the Difference Between a Trichologist and a Dermatologist?

A dermatologist is a medical professional who specializes in the health of skin. A trichologist focuses on skin conditions as well as hair, yet takes a holistic approach rather than medical approach in regards to treatment and offering nutritional advice.

Trichologists, in a sense, are seen as the first line of defense when dealing with hair and scalp issues. In many cases trichologists and dermatologists compliment one another when assessing severe hair and skin cases, and may work very well alongside one another.

So, What Will Happen During My Consultation?

During all consultations, our clients will have a personal meeting with Nina. Nina will ask clients to complete a brief questionnaire in order to become familiar with health history.

Nina focuses on factors such as medical history, eating habits, nutrition intake, a possible hormonal imbalance, stress levels, and sometimes results from a blood test done by a physician.

This information is essential to properly determine which treatment and nutritional method will be best for each client.
