What is Laser Therapy for Hair loss?

Low level laser therapy is an FDA-approved and non-surgical method for treating health conditions. It is most commonly used to treat androgentic alopecia, aka male and female pattern balding.

Visible red light is capable of being absorbed by the molecules of the hair follicle and can stimulate the growth or re-growth of the hair following a natural biological reaction. The light must be absorbed for this reaction to occur.

Our method utilizes photons, which are sent into scalp tissues using radiation and absorbed by weak cells in order to encourage hair growth. The procedure is non-invasive and non-chemical.

Laser Therapy Treatments are effective at:

Increasing the length of your hair cycle’s “growth” phase
Improving blood flow within the root of your hair follicles
Delivering nutrients to the scalp
Strengthening hair follicles
Increasing the diameter of your hair follicles

Laser Therapy and the Hair Growth Cycle

The hair growth cycle consists of three phases:

Growth (Anagen phase)
Shedding (Catagen phase)
Resting (Telogen phase)

Hair loss in androgenetic alopecia depends on a testosterone derivative, dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Low level laser therapy is believed to increase blood flow in the scalp and stimulate metabolism in catagen or telogen follicles, resulting in the production of hair growth.

Laser Therapy Treatments with Nina Ross

Laser Therapy at Nina Ross Hair and Skin Therapy is administered by, Nina, our professionally trained WTS Certified Trichologist and Master Cosmetologist.

You will visit for bi-weekly treatments which will consist of a 10 to 15-minute exposure of the scalp to light-emitting diodes under a head cap or using a handheld comb or brush.

Scalp treatment and massages that promote blood circulation may be included with treatment as well.
